A toilet that runs, leaks, or clogs every week wastes water and money — a running toilet alone can quietly add thousands of gallons to your bill. We fix the small stuff when fixing is the right call, and replace the unit cleanly when it isn’t.
Gallagher’s has repaired and replaced toilets across Butte, Shasta, Tehama, Glenn, Yuba and Sutter counties since 1989. We’re the Stand Up Guys: professional, polite, punctual, and straight with you about what a job costs.
What we repair
- Running toilets — flapper, fill valve, and flush valve problems
- Weak or incomplete flushes
- Leaks at the base (often a failed wax ring) or at the tank bolts
- Constant clogging and slow flushing
- Wobbling or loose toilets that are about to leak
- Condensation and tank-to-bowl leaks
Repair or replace — the honest version
Most toilet problems are a cheap part, and we’d rather sell you the part. A running toilet is usually a flapper or fill valve, not a new toilet. We’ll fix that and be on our way.
Replacement makes sense when the bowl is cracked, the toilet is ancient and inefficient, it clogs constantly by design, or you simply want an upgrade. A modern high-efficiency toilet uses a fraction of the water an older one does — which the water bill notices.
We install it right and take the old one with us
A toilet that isn’t set properly leaks at the base and rots the floor underneath. We set a fresh wax ring, level and secure the unit, check the seal, and make sure it flushes clean before we leave. Then we haul the old one away — you don’t end up with it sitting in the garage for six months.
Why the little leaks matter here
A toilet leaking at the base is the kind of slow problem that destroys a subfloor before anyone notices. Catching it early is a cheap fix; catching it after it’s rotted the floor is not. If yours rocks, sweats, or shows any water at the base, it’s worth a look.
What it costs
A flapper swap and a full replacement are different jobs with different prices. What we promise:
- The price comes before the work, in writing.
- If a cheap part will fix it, we tell you — we don’t upsell a repair into a replacement.
- Replacement includes proper installation and haul-away of the old unit.
Where we work

Toilet FAQs
Why does my toilet keep running?
Usually a worn flapper or a bad fill valve — both inexpensive parts. It’s worth fixing fast; a running toilet wastes a surprising amount of water.
Is it worth repairing an old toilet or should I replace it?
If it’s a cheap part, repair it. If the bowl is cracked, it clogs constantly, or it’s an old water-guzzler, a high-efficiency replacement usually pays for itself on the water bill.
Do you haul away the old toilet?
Yes — replacement includes removing and disposing of the old unit.
My toilet leaks at the base — is that serious?
It can be. A base leak rots the subfloor over time. Get it looked at before it turns into a floor repair.
